Technology grows at dizzying rates. Even those in the industry find it hard to keep up with the movers and shakers. If you aren’t a mover and shaker, you’d better find ways to become one quickly. Otherwise, you’ll be left in the industry dust. Here are three tips Forbes Technology Council says will help.
1. Stay on Top of New Technology
Even if you don’t work in artificial intelligence or computing platforms, for example, you must stay abreast of the entire technology industry in order to succeed within it. Achin Bhowmik of Starkey Hearing Technology explains that growing domains such as advanced sensors, artificial intelligence, computing platforms, machine learning, and ubiquitous connectivity affect multiple applications, so know them because they could affect your specialized area in the industry.
2. Boost Your Own Knowledge
As you research these new domains, Sunil Madhu of Socure, Inc. recommends you “go beyond the hype.” You must research emerging technologies including gaining some hands-on experience in the platforms so you know them well. Don’t simply read the latest technology news. Investigate and use the technologies themselves and understand their compliance within the industry, impact on your processes, privacy, and security. Knowledge is power.
3. Build a Fierce Team
Once you are armed with the knowledge you need, build a quality team. If your business focuses on artificial intelligence, get the best people in this industry. If you build and sell vape mods, employ only those who know all there is to know about this new recreational trend. Luke Beatty of Brandfolder explains, “… leadership needs to craft a team that gives the company an unfair advantage,” so find experts in your niche and do whatever it takes to hire them.
Technology is one of the fastest growing and most competitive industries in the world. To be a player in this industry, you must be on top of your game and remain there. You cannot hope to do so if you do not know your industry, the industry around you, and build the best teams.
